Go Wolf - Running E.P.

Go Wolf, 'Friction'

Info: Belfast band Go Wolf release their new E.P. Running and new single 'Friction' next week on the 10th of March. This follows the earlier release of two other singles from the four track recording, 'Voices' and title track 'Running'. I think Go Wolf have hit on a bit of a winning formula here made up of a few different parts. Firstly, they have the 80's pop sound basics nailed down, modern tinge, tick, extremely subtle John Hughes OST strain, tick, bang in the middle of a trajectory between Belinda Carlisle ('Running') and Phil Collins ('Slow Burn'), tick. 'Friction' itself is probably the more contemporary sounding of the songs on the E.P., and has a strangely oriental undercurrent, and also reminds me at times of fellow Belfast band Go Swim. Another aspect of Go Wolf's music that I liked was how clean both the vocals and music are, there's a very calming, yet uplifting at the same time, feel to their songs. I also had a listen to an older song on their SoundCloud page that I loved, 'Talk To You', lovely guitar and bass-lines and an overall feel of Prince mixed with some more 80's pop-oriented sounds. They won't mind me sharing it I'm sure.

Additional Info: Combining glossy 80’s synth pop with 21st-century electro-indie edge, Go Wolf are a young band with ambition and talent to burn. The group formed unintentionally at a Belfast poetry night and quickly became one of the most talked about new names on the

Belfast music scene. Go Wolf soon attracted a lot of attention leading to major support slots for The 1975, CSS and Wild Beasts. Eventually they secured a deal with independent Brooklyn based record label Ooh La La Records.
