EP: Ian Brennan - Keep The Tape Rolling

Ian Brennan Keep The Tape Rolling

Ian Brennan - You & I

Info: Dubliner Ian Brennan is set to release his debut solo EP, Keep The Tape Rolling, on the 25th of March next month. The 24-year-old singer-songwriter has sepnt the last few months touring relentlessly around Dublin's venues including a support slot for Declan O'Rourke in the Abbey Tavern in Howth and Aslan's Christy Dignam at the same venue on a separate occasion. A lot has happened for the Finglas native in a short space of time, considering that he only embarked on his solo project last summer after playing with numerous bands in the past.

Keep The Tape Rolling opens with lead track 'Game Over' which starts out like a quieter Oasis track from somewhere in between The Masterplan and Be Here Now, more Noel than Liam mind, and has some nice lead guitar which gives the pop sensibilities of the track a rockier edge. 'You & I' (above) veers more toward an indie-folk tone, and there's some nice production on this one with instruments and Brennan's vocals complimenting each other well.

Third track 'All Feels The Same' has a very 90's Irish rock sound to it, something you might have expected from the likes of Picturehouse, reflecting the good-natured and positive mood of the EP as a whole. The collection of tracks ends with 'Talk of the Town', a mature vocal performance from Brennan rides confidently over the thrust of the music and shows that he is no one-trick pony when it comes to the singer-songwriter game. Keep The Tape Rolling is a promising start for Ian Brennan, if he can continue to develop his sound and add more depth to his lyrics he will have every chance of building on the audience he is sure to acquire once this EP is allowed to gain momentum.

Keep The Tape Rolling will be releaed on 25th of March on iTunes, Spotify and Google Play Store for €3.
