Pranks - El Capitan
Info: Dublin two-piece Pranks have released a new video for their latest single 'El Capitan', which shifts from calm to chaotic and showcases Pranks' brand of dynamically diverse songwriting where no one instrument is in the lead. The track is the first of 3 single releases planned for this year.
To celebrate the release Pranks will play their first headline show of 2016 in Whelans on Thursday March 3rd. Support on the night comes from Dublin noise architects Not Monsters. Admission is €5 or free when you comment "PRANKS GUESTLIST!" on the Facebook event page.
I couldn't agree more with the bands' statement that both guitar and drums are equal sparring partners once again on the latest release from Pranks. 'El Capitan''s guitar intro doesn't even reach the 10 second mark before the rhythmically locomotive drumming forces itself in. The grunge rock sound comes to the fore impressively as well, like David Grohl and Rage Against The Machine drummer Brad Wilk's letting fly with abandon toward the tracks end. Let there be rock.
