Drown - Live @ The Workman's Club, Dublin
Info: It was some night and some line-up in The Workman's Club, Dublin tonight. Although I've no photo and I apologise, I've subsequently become aware via folk at the gig tonight and my own ears afterwards (via the power of the internet) that Tim Cooke is a horribly talented electric guitarist who I need to see live asap. Overall it was a great night of music courtesy of Dave of Gigonometry, with a superb set from (a) a band I've been dying to see since they released their debut single 'Terry Said' recently, Vulpynes (b) someone I heard so much about for over a year, then heard her music, and was moved by it, and finally got to see live tonight Rosa Nutty.
'And over here!' as Jools Holland would say, and there were times (most of the time) that I thought any of these acts could be on his BBC stage, introduced by him and have an impact on the audience, came Galway-based (with some Dublin members) (can't have it all!) band Drown hit the stage and Christ on a stick I was in heaven. They sounded immense, their set was perfect and it was all Sonic Youth but not Sonic Youth, it was an experience, and they were everything you'd want from a headline act.
