Stevie Cliff - You Only Want Me On The Weekend
Info: "You Only Want Me On the Weekend" is Dublin based Alt-Pop Singer Songwriters third single from his debut album which is due sometime in 2017. Co-written with friend and collaborator Kevin McMorrow and Produced by Ciaran O'Shea (The Frank and the Walters, Toy Soldier) the track packs in enough hooks in less than 3 minutes to keep even the most easily distracted listener's attention.
French style synths intermingle with jerky basslines and erratic guitar stabs to create a sound that is Cliff's alone. Lyrically the song tells the tale of an on again, off again romance with the sadness of the words in stark contrast to the frenetic rhythms of the music.
Stevie Cliff could be described as being part of a new, young, Irish electro-pop Rat Pack, alongside the likes of TADGH, Exiles, RUTH and Ivy Nations, to name just a few. Latest single 'You Only Want Me On The Weekend' is more contemporary than his previous 80's-tinged singles, 'Maybe' and 'Burn Baby Burn'. Funky beats and basslines lead up to the final third's full on burst of synth energy, Cliff keeping proceedings short and sweet but providing more than enough time for us to want to bust a move and do some body-popping, and sometimes, that's all you need.
