Bleak Stack - When We're Whole One Day
Info: Recently featured on Remy's Music & Film's last Playlist, west of Ireland hip-hop duo Bleak Stack have recently released their first track, 'When We're Whole One Day' (above), which will feature on their forthcoming album, Check or Fold. Until then the pair have chosen to keep everything fairly low-key with the focus on the music. Repeated listens had me getting more absorbed into the songs groove, and musically it reminded me of a gentleman who has featured on these pages regularly over the years, Delaware kingpin Gentle Jones, and in particular his High Elders project in conjunction with Carlow's Auxiliary Phoenix. Importantly, Bleak Stack retain their own vocal sound and avoid impersonation, the new LP should certainly be an interesting chapter in the growth of indigenous Irish hip-hop.
