Rollin' Empire - Nothing To Lose
Info: Formed in 2014, Irish rock trio Rollin' Empire consists of Stephen McGurrin (songwriter, vocals and guitar), Callum Condron (songwriter, bass guitar, keyboards) and Thomas Campbell (percussion, vocals). Close friends from childhood, the trio have many years experience playing together,this is very evident in the effortless ability to marry complex and distinctive melodies.
Following the release of their debut album, Nowhere To Run, at the end of 2015, the band have been getting a slew of live shows under their belt and last month released the video for latest single 'Nothing To Lose' (above). Back in January the LP was reviewed here, and I had noted it was marked, in my mind at least, as a potential future single, sometimes I get these predictions right!; 'Third track 'Nothing to Lose' has a Marilyn Manson style drum and bass sound, with an indie-esque chorus, Rollin' Empire evidence their claims of being a tight fit unit who have been playing alongside each other for some time, this could easily be a choice for a future single release.'
Of the video itself, which is most entertaining, the band say; 'It's a song about taking a gamble and never giving up no matter what the odds, which is all too familiar with any professional musician. 'Nothing to Lose' is influenced from bands that we look up to such as Royal Blood, Queens of the Stone Age and Band of Skulls. Its the third single from out debut album "Nowhere to Run" which was released last November.'
