Info: Our final Playlist for Forbidden Fruit 2017 is here, with the three day event kicking off tomorrow afternoon in IMMA. As is the norm, we can expect a soft landing on Monday with a pinch of energy to keep the party going, a chance to both let the mind catch up on the previous two days and soak up some lovely mellow sets from what will certainly be a very strong final day in Kilmainham. Below you'll find the full stage times for all three days, as well as a handy bonus Playlist covering the entire span of acts playing at this years festival.
Day 3 is curated by Justin Vernon, aka Bon Iver, and his stamp is certainly all over the selection of artists we can look forward to, representing Ireland on the main stage will be the wonderfully gifted Lisa Hannigan who released her beautiful third album, At Swim, towards the end of last year. Regular tour partners of Bon Iver in the past, The Staves will also be performing on Monday, with Detroit hip-hop impresario Danny Brown providing some oompf, his presence will attract a large crowd in itself.
Talos - Odyssey
The homegrown Bulmers Live stage which has been added for the first time this year is particularly impressive on the Monday. Headliners on the day will be Limerick trio Rusangano Family whose star just keeps on rising and rising. Earlier this year they scooped the Choice Music Prize Album of the Year for their self-made LP Let The Dead Bury The Dead, beating off competition from heavyweights such as The Divine Comedy, James Vincent McMorrow and Lisa Hannigan, in many ways it was a real breath of fresh air for independent Irish music, and 110% deserved.
Another artist who is riding the crest of the wave right now is Cork electronic / ambient act Talos, who released his debut album, Wild Alee, recently. It's caused quite a stir, with the LP's launch night in April virtually hoovering up most of Dublin's gig-going community. Along with LAOISE and Ryan Vail, comes the mercurial Wastefellow who I had the pleasure of catching at last years Hard Working Class Heroes festival, the phrase avant-garde seems to draw ire nowadays, however it is a perfect fit for the imagination and experimentalism that emanates from the Dubliner's unique brand of electronic music.
