Lōwli - Frozen Bones
Info: Lōwli is composer/songwriter, Roisin Lowry. Lowry began writing music under the name Lōwli at the start of 2016. She has since been creating a distinctive and alternative sound of haunting vocal melodies and enthralling lyrics surrounded by dark, orchestral instrumentation.
Lōwli released her debut single, 'Fallow' in November 2016. She is currently working on her debut EP which will be released at the end of 2017.
''..orchestral, elegant noir-pop... a performer with a keen sense for the dramatic twists and turns.." - Jim Carroll (Irish Times)
Cork-based act Lōwli releases her follow-up single to last years 'Fallow' in the form of 'Frozen Bones'. On the surface Lōwli's vocal appears drawn from the same pool as early 70's songwriters, but when you try to attach it to one you consistently come up short, a little bit of Carole King perhaps, but shorn of the passage of time.
'Frozen Bones' finds the artist in more reflective and melancholic mood, there is no over-bearing atmospherics or undue focus on soundscapes, the track is kept relatively bare and doesn't require much effort on behalf of the listener to fall under its spell. This really is music for people who feel moved on a deeper level and can appreciate the slightly dark yet not sinister world Lōwli looks to create, it's also another great single which perfectly whets the appetite for the debut EP release later this year.
