Sick Love - Are You Ready?
Info: SICK LOVE deliver a high-energy, no holds barred rock show all wrapped up anthemic punky-pop songs lead by front woman Rebecca Geary. Described by Hot Press magazine as “ defiantly pushing against the grain of indie and folk bands in Ireland”, they broke through with sold out club shows as well as festival slots at Electric Picnic and Indiependence. The band were quickly marked by many as ones to watch, with the Irish Times praising them as “set to join the Super League of Irish rock bands”.
SICK LOVE are no strangers to the gritty, do-it yourself Irish music scene rising from the ashes of former band Sub Motion who delivered a number of successful self-released tracks and a series of support slots with Crazy Town, The Strypes, Fangclub, Otherkin etc.
‘Are You Ready?’ was recorded in Herbert Place Studios, Dublin with James Darkin at the helm.
Under the new banner of Sick Love, the much-loved local Dublin pop-punk quartet (formerly known as Sub Motion) continue on the same path they had smashed out for themselves previously with debut single 'Are You Ready?' Fat rusty bass-lines, call to action spurts and a pre-chorus that builds like Led Zeppelin's 'Kashmir', except with electric guitar replacing those ominous strings. The track swallows you up and spits you out, not once, but twice after a nice 25-second chew beginning at 2:12. The name has changed, but Sick Love's ass-kicking brand of unforgiving and intensive punk-rock is still soaring in one direction.
