Abandcalledboy, 'George Best In Show'

Info: No nonsense Belfast rockers Abandcalledboy have done what you might do to your favourite pair of suit pants and had a slight tailoring adjustment to both music and line-up, adding drummer Chris Ryan, and whilst retaining their harder edge, also placing a new emphasis on vocal and song structure. 'George Best In Show' has a forceful intro with shuddering and manic guitar quickly followed by an appropriately introductory drum solo at the one-minute mark. As the track moves on Abandcalledboy do what they do best, second by second they up the ante, pace of the song and intensity before coming to an abrupt halt. 

'Paul Simon's Daily Routine' (will any Irish band proffer as unusual a song-title this year?) accentuates the groups new journey more sharply, it is quite distinct from anything on last year's debut E.P. Thankfully though, the new set up retains the edgier raw sound of the original, whilst also being able to move forward in a slightly different direction. Ultimately, Abandcalledboy continue to indulge us with a brand of rock music that no one else is touching upon currently, long may it continue.
