Single: The Shams - Go On Home Boys

The Shams - Go On Home Boys

Info: The Shams first began in 2011 in San Francisco, lead by energetic and charismatic front man Sean Daly, from Donegal, Ireland. In the last year, The Shams have released their award-winning EP One and All, embarked on a Northwest tour and sold out the legendary Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. At the beginning of last month they also supported Damien Dempsey at The Neck of the Woods venue in their hometown, and today we are sharing their single 'Go On Home Boys' from last years EP release.

'Go On Home Boys' sets out its stall without delay, riveting punk guitar and machine gun drumming, it's like a cocktail of The Dropkick Murphys and Greenday. The mania is increased with scorching guitar riffs and a bass-line straight from The Clash's Combat Rock. It's theme is fraternal and the Irish-American stamp stands-out a mile away, but if you're open to charm you'll have the brístí charmed right off you. This is a rollicking track that lands lots of knock-out blows and if these guys ever come to Ireland I'll be front of stage. I don't know why, but I feel strangely proud of The Shams, it's not difficult to see why they've become hugely popular in the Bay Area and I've no doubt that popularity would be replicated here in Ireland, get these punks across The Atlantic, 'mon the boys!
