Info: This collaboration with DOCK draws the viewer into the intimacy of Molly Sterling's latest single 'Stripped Down'. Shot in one take, it further cements her ability as a performer and gives the audience a unique insight into the kind of artist Sterling is.
Molly has developed her live performances at events such as Other Voices, Forbidden Fruit, Castlepalooza and many more, meaning it was only fitting for this first video release to be in a live setting.
A word from the director:
"The idea to shoot 'Stripped Down' in one take came from a pretty strong initial gut feeling. I was already familiar with the track, so when Molly approached me to be involved in the project, it just felt like it was at least worth trying a one take style. It's a beautifully dynamic song so I wanted the camera movement to match those dynamics and the emotions they convey. You never really know if its going to work until you're in it on the day so I'm just delighted it worked out."
In our previous review of the recorded version of Sterling's 'Stripped Down' we noted; "This sombre mood, cast in rustic old-world surroundings, rises as the singer releases an emotive gift of insight to us, peaks arising with grand and monumental curtains of cello. But it's the parts of the song where Sterling says the least and the music is at its least present which hold the most blunt power and impact, this is the perfect next step from her debut single, a growing song-writing diamond in our midst."
Molly Sterling plays Hard Working Class Heroes on the 29th September at The Grand Social and supports Glass Wings for their album launch in The Black Box, Belfast on the 19th of October.
