Info: Last summer Belfast's Arvo Party blew all and sundry away with his critically acclaimed second self-titled album, it is still a solid go to collection of electronic music for me a year later, I cannot become too familiar with it. No laurels were to be rested upon and Herb Magee has been knocking new singles from his forthcoming third album out in the interim which is due for release in the very near future.
Latest single '(DUST)' confirms Arvo Party's to date unbroken consistency in delivering a highly addictive cocktail of ambience and energy. In many ways it's reassuring to know there's an electronic artist out there who knows exactly how to both time and plant sounds within his music. The intro to '(DUST)' reminds me of a sombre version of something from LemonJelly's KY album, before bursting into fulsome futuristic synth mode. Again emphasis is on timing, with all of his music Magee has an uncanny mastery over delivering separate isolated waves of feeling, they drop in and are pulled up just as quick, resulting in a energising and fully immersive reaction from the listener which creates the craving for repeated listens.
